Gifts for Single Moms

If you’re searching for gift ideas for single mom, or you are a single mom here is a list of helpful ideas you can hint to family and friends.  Some are practical, some are indulgent, some are simple, but all these helpful gifts for single moms will bring a smile to her face (or yours)!  Great for Christmas, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, these ideas also make great gifts to celebrate that divorce finally being complete!

We know that being a mom is a tough job, one of the hardest in the world, especially if you are doing it on your own as a single mom.  But it’s also one of the most rewarding things you will ever do in your life!  You deserve to be spoiled, whether it’s by friends and family, or even indulging yourself once in a while.

Hopefully these gift ideas, grouped into helpful areas every single mom struggles with, will help you spoil the single mom in your life!

Help Around The House

This is a big one for every mom, regardless whether they are single or not!  Keeping the house clean is a constant struggle with kids.  Cheerio shrapnel is everywhere…ALL THE TIME!  Add pets into the mix, and it’s a losing battle.  Who wouldn’t want a break from vacuuming?!

Enter the Roomba.

“Connect to clean from anywhere with the Roomba 690 robot vacuum. The patented 3-Stage Cleaning System is specially engineered to loosen, lift, and suction everything from small particles to large debris from carpets and hard floors. Dirt Detect sensors alert the Roomba robot vacuum to clean more thoroughly on concentrated areas of dirt. Just press Clean or schedule Roomba on the go with the iRobot HOME App.”

Done and done!

Help With Dinner

Another struggle for moms in general, but particularly single moms, is how to get a simple, healthy dinner on the table.  Consider getting mom an Instant Pot.

I love it because of how fast it cooks, that it’s “hands off” cooking, and how many recipes I can make with just one pot to clean.  Making a pot roast, one still partially frozen from the fridge, can be sautéed on all sides, and cooked to a perfect “medium” in a little over an hour, while I finish a load of laundry.

Another option is the gift of a meal delivery service.  All the planning and prep work is taken care of, you just have to cook by following the recipe, and get dinner on the table.  What a great way to get the whole family cooking together, without all the fuss!  While there are many different services available, HelloFresh (available in Canada as well as the US) gets rave reviews for it’s easy to follow directions, and pre-portioned separate ingredients.

Help With Decorating

Especially when you first become a single mom, you struggle with making your house your home after divorce.  A great gift for single moms is an inspirational quote for the wall like this one…

It’s a reminder that you are still a family, and the important things in life like kindness, respect and love.  Another idea is a mom-themed picture frame with a picture of the kids.  One of the best gifts I ever received from my friend, she reminded me that I am, and will always be, the best mom to my boys. (Cue the tears!  Pass the Kleenex!)

Help To Feel Pampered

Anything that can make a single mom feel pampered is a big hit.  A massage, a spa day or a mani/pedi, or a relaxing self-care getaway are all sure-fire ways to indulge a single mom.  You can also bring the pedicure home with a relaxing foot spa paired with some essential oils, soothing foot cream and cozy slippers!

Help To Relax

At the end of a hard day, single mom’s could use a little help to relax.  And something that can help the whole family is essential oils and an aromatherapy diffuser.

I love this diffuser and use it every night.  My youngest loves the soft, colour-changing rainbow lights, and the soothing scents of our favourite essential oil help everyone drift off to sleep.

Help To Unwind

Once the kids are sound asleep, it’s mom’s time to unwind!  Give a gift of her favourite wine, paired with this humorous glass or my favourite “Oliva Pope” wine glasses (paired with the final season of Scandal of course)

Help Inspire Her Greatness

Speaking of Scandal, series creator Shonda Rhimes is one of the inspiring women featured in MasterClass, a collection of online classes taught by the world’s greatest minds.

The overwhelm of single motherhood can have even the strongest of moms wondering if she will ever have a life of her own again.  But it's never too late to be "what you want to be when you grow up".  Check out some of the other amazing classes by the likes of Margaret Atwood, Annie Leibovitz, Alice Waters, and Jane Goodall.

Even my oldest son has been enjoying learning cooking with Gordon Ramsey, and space exploration by astronaut Chris Hadfield.  It's been one of the best investments we have made this year!  Buy a single class for $120, or get a year-long all access pass to every class for just $240 US!

Whatever ideas for gifts for single moms you choose, even if it's just your time and company, the support you give is immeasurable!  Got ideas you would add?  Leave a comment below and let me know!

I'm a single mom to two boys, full-time shift worker, and manager of a household (that now includes my parents).

While I feel like a crash test dummy some days, navigating this crazy, often overwhelming life, it's got some pretty great moments too, if you just know where to look!

My goal is to share ideas, provide inspiration, and challenge you to find the happiness, joy, and bliss in the every day chaos that is "your one wild and precious life".
